The weeks approaching Samuel's first birthday were really emotional for me. It was deja vu, getting ready and preparing for school. Attending open houses at preschool and TCGIS. We started the school year last year with Samuel coming early, and I guess I never felt quite "recovered" and the fall of 2014 just went up into thin air. I missed a big part of my boys' first weeks of school last year.
This school year is already starting differently. Samuel is with us and walking (running!) all over the place. I'm neither anticipating giving birth nor spending my days at the hospital with a baby in the NICU. Our family is together, which feels so, so nice. The boys seem really happy to start school. And I am happy to be at home! I am ready to reclaim this fall 2015, and do things we missed out on last year.
BUT Most importantly, Samuel turned 1. And what a year it has been! It was a scary start, but Samuel Jacob was called by God on September 7th to enter this world. He has done SO well and is just thriving today.
We celebrated his birthday by having family over to our house for cake and present opening. Our house was FULL to the brim; everyone coming to show their love meant so much to us. Samuel chose the "coin" in our 1st birthday traditional game. His big brothers helped him open his presents. Of course the $1 garage sale fisher price toy was his fav! And the birthday boy was fast asleep by 6:15 that night.
